Glen Orchy

In September of 2016 Foresty Commission Scotland contracted me to write content for new visitor welcome panels for three sites in the Glen Orchy area: Catnish, Falls of Orchy and Glen Lochy. Each one had to convey the sense of place as well as tell visitors what they could do in the area.

The panels were to have include some Gaelic content (working to guidelines developed by FCS) so I worked in collaboration with Mairi Kidd; a highly experienced Gaelic writer and editor. I involved Mairi early on so that she could help to shape the Gaelic content. This included some evocative excerpts from the writings of Duncan Ban MacIntyre; an influential Gaelic poet who had once lived in the area.
